Get answers to common questions about Butterfly Locs - Small - Shoulder.

Butterfly locs typically last 6–8 weeks with proper care. Small shoulder-length installs can maintain curl and neatness when you avoid heavy manipulation, sleep with a satin scarf, and schedule touch-ups as needed.

We recommend 9–10 bags of Water Wave Curl (Freetress) for small shoulder-length butterfly locs. Hair is not included, so please bring your preferred bundles or purchase from the salon prior to your appointment.

Hair is not included with the service. The style requires Water Wave Curl (Freetress) and you can either bring 9–10 bags or purchase them through our salon to ensure color and texture match.

Duration typically varies between 5 and 8 hours depending on density, scalp sensitivity, and parting precision. We recommend allowing a full day and arriving with clean, detangled hair for the smoothest, quickest service.

You can swim, but salt and chlorine can affect the synthetic Water Wave Curl. Rinse thoroughly, apply a light protective conditioner, and wear a swim cap when possible to prolong the style and prevent frizzing or matting.

Moisturize the scalp and locs weekly with light oil or spray, sleep on satin, avoid heavy products, and gently cleanse the scalp. For loose edges or unraveling, book a touch-up appointment to preserve the look long-term.
